A: IPA always appoints the technicians specialised in a particular activity such Plumbing, Electricity & Locksmith. If IPA's technician is able to fix another problem for you, another quotation will be presented by the technician to you.
Q: Will IPA provide services if the problem happens in the common areas under the management of building manager?
A: Actually, the public area of the building should be under the management of building manager. IPA's technician would not fix any problem in the common area of the building because of the legal liabilities incurred.
Q: Should I be present while the technician visits my residence?
A: Yes, it would be easier for the technician to understand the problem completely.
Q: Shall I choose my own service provider instead of the service providers from IPA ? Is it going to affect my claim?
A: Normally, the insurance company would require you to arrange the technician through IPA assistance centre rather than using your own service provider.
Q: Is it necessary for me to report my problem to IPA HK if I got the dealer's phone number myself? Would it affect my claim?
A: You are required to report the case to IPA even you have the dealer's phone number.
Q: Would IPA purchase any insurance for its service providers?
A: IPA's service providers are required to have a professional liability insurance to fulfilling the requirement of the HK Law.
