Q: For the benefit of alternate vehicle, can I rent a car model different from my damaged and/or immobilized car?

A: Upon approval of your application on alternate vehicle, IPA will provide you an alternate vehicle for a period and a model corresponding to the amount of coverage stated in your policy. IPA HK will not restrict you to choose a model similar to your own car.

Q: How long I should wait for your towing car?

A: Usually, it will take 15 to 30 minutes for the towing assistance truck to arrive on location. In 2002, IPAHK has an average waiting time of 21 minutes, thanks to an unparalleled network of dedicated suppliers.

Q: Could your technician fix the security system on the spot?

A: The security system would be different from various models of vehicle. Usually, IPA's technician would suggest towing the vehicle to the respective motor service centre.

Q: Will IPA HK provide me with the Vehicle Assistance services if I drive a car of a colleague or friend?

A: As long as the car has been insured with a policy including IPA HK services and that the policy is valid, IPA will provide the service.

Q: Should I go along with your towing company to the garage?

A: Yes, although not necessary it is preferable. You can therefore have an idea of the estimated immobilization of your vehicle for repair.

Q: How can I apply the benefit of Alternate Vehicle after my car has been involved in an accident?

A: You should report the accident to your insurance company & IPA as quickly as possible. IPA would keep your report and trace the Surveyor Report. Once IPA receives the Surveyor Report, IPA would inform you of the validity of your request as well as the details of the model and location of the vehicle granted.

Q: Will you provide any assistance service if my car battery is flat?

A: If the Motor Insurance Policy you bought has not excluded the problem arising from running out of battery; and the cause of problem is not related to personal negligence (such as to forget to switch off the lights), IPA would cover the costs of Road Side Assistance and/or Towing.

Q: Will you provide the assistance service in case my car has the problem of flat tire?

A: Usually IPA would classify flat tire as an accident. Therefore, IPA would cover the costs for providing the assistance service.
